Meet The Stunning Model Who Shut Down The Emmy Red Carpet
Nyakim Gatwech’s parents lived in Maiwut, South Sudan, before they fled the South Sudanese civil war to Gambela, Ethiopia where Nyakim was born. From there, they migrated in Kenya where they lived in refugee camps, and finally she migrated to the US with her family, while she was 14 years of age. Originally settling in Buffalo, New York, she later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Although she wasn’t born or has been to South Sudan, she still considers herself as South Sudanese. She considered a modelling career after taking part in a fashion show at St. Cloud State University.[2][3] She has appeared in promotional posters for the 2017 film Jigsaw.[4]
In an interview with Yahoo Beauty, Gatwech revealed:
“I was [asked by] my Uber driver the other day, he said, ‘Don’t take this offensive but if you were given 10 thousand dollars would you bleach your skin for that amount?’” the goddess wrote on Instagram in late March.
“I couldn’t even respond I started laughing so hard.”
“[Then] he said, ‘So that a no’ and I was like hell to the f*king yeah [that’s] no.”
“Why on earth would I ever bleach this beautiful melanin God [blessed] me with,” she added.
“[Then] he said so you look at it as a blessing?”
As you can see, our girl hasn’t let any of that foolery stop her shine. She took no prisoners when she showed up at the Emmy Awards in a stunning gown, created by Cameroon fashion designer, Claude Kameni.
Nayakim Gatwech is absolutely beautiful. I admire her confidence! She should never think about bleaching her skin. I wonder why the Uber driver questioned her about it? What was his problem?

I bet that uber driver was Black ??Unless they’re prejudice, under the influence, and/or geniunely curious, most non-black people wouldn’t ask those kinds of questions, especially if they don’t know us well. They’re not concerned about what we do with our skin, hair, etc. But when they are, they’re geniunely curious and may be misinformed. However, I hate to say it, but there are some Blacks who have neither shame nor filter, prejudice and/or ignorant too. I’ve encountered too many like that uber driver who asked her that.
Regardless if he was Black or not, he was clearly ignorant. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked her that. I love the way she responded to him. She wasn’t bothered, and laughed it off. I’m happy Nayakim is confident in her skin. She should be. It’s youthful, healthy and gorgeous! Hell, I wish I had her glowing skin. Every color looks vibrant and extraordinary on her!
Often, women wear clothes to make them more beautiful. In Nayakim’s case, she MAKES the clothes look amazing simply because she is drop dead gorgeous.
