Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in “Unveil”

We’re only a few months shy of the anniversary of the release of Fenty Beauty’s inaugural red liquid lipstick: Uncensored. A bright candy-red lip shade that looks fantastic on almost all skin tones. See HERE for examples. That release was met with rave reviews, your girl included, so when the brand began dropping teasers of their new Stunna shades for fall, your girl was on the edge of her seat. I literally own every single lipstick shade on the planet, but Fenty’s lippies have a knack for placing a twist on undertones that make their shades feel new even if they aren’t.

This week Fenty Beauty dropped three new liquid lipstick shades: Unveil, Unbuttoned, and Uncuffed, bringing the total number of Stunna liquid lip paints to 4 shades:

According to IG page, @youraveragetaylor, the brand will also be releasing a black shade called “uninvited,” any day now:

I snagged uncuffed and unveil. Unbutton, while pretty, I know will need to be mixed with a liner or another shade to bode well with my skin tone. Uncuffed and Unveil, I had hoped, would look better on my dark skin. But truthfully, neither Unbutton ( characterized as a deep mauve) nor Unveil wowed me. See my swatches here for your reference:

I really debated posting this video because I filmed at midnight with piss poor lighting, but honestly, this shitty lighting helps you to really see what these colors look like on my skin tone. As you can see, the mauve is more pink on me and the brown isn’t that dark. Mixed together these colors blend into a soft pinky-nude. Both shades were pretty, but they did not give me the standout oomph of the original stunna, uncensored.

Uncuffed, for example, was far more pink on me than mauve:

Formula-wise, stunna liquid lipsticks are a hit. I know I may in the minority on this one, but I like that they dry down to a soft matte, not the long-wearing dry mattes that have become all the rage. Stunna liquid lipsticks are not transfer-proof either. Still, they are comfortable, giving wearers a plumped pouty lip. I’m okay with sacrificing staying-power for comfort. And that’s all, folks!
