This Organic Makeup Line Makes Your Skin Look Like Skin

As much as  I live for a beat face, the older I get the more inclined I am to lean towards makeup that renders a more natural and glowing finish. Skin, for me, is most definitely in. So when the folks on the Physician’s Formula team challenged me to test and try their Organic Skin Collection I was ready.  Firstly, I wanted to make sure the line included colors that work on deeper skin tones, and secondly I wanted to be sure the products wouldn’t trigger my oily-and acne-prone skin. So far? Almost all of the products in the Physicians Formula Organic Wear collection have exceeded my expectations. What’s better is the price point is so affordable. According to the Physician’s Formula website, the Organic Wear Collection is infused with chamomile, jojoba oil, and a butter blend The products are also organic, vegan, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, paraben-free, and dermatologist tested.

The Physician’s Formula Organic-Wear Silk Foundation Elixir

The Organic-Wear Silk foundation literally makes your skin look like skin. The glow it gives off?! Honeeey!! And the coverage is buildable, too. The finish is airbrush-like and dewy.  I wear color #11 deep-to-rich. It was a perfect match

Physicians Formula Organic Wear® Dewy Blush Elixir

The organic wear blush goes on as a liquid and dries down to a very subtle and dewy finish. I tried the colors crushed berries and apricot glow and found that they gave me more of a glow rather than a noticeable warmth to the skin. Perhaps lighter complexions will find more color-pay off than I was able to achieve. I did, however, notice major glow action, so I’d even recommend these as a highlighter without color/shimmer.

Have I mentioned how happy I am that more and more brands are moving away from super drying matte lip formulas to more hydrating formulas? The Organic Wear Nourishing lipstick is super pigmented and nourishing it almost feels like a lip balm. Physicians Formula Organic Wear Lip Polish

An organic lip polish infused with rosehip oil for extra moisture and subtle shine. I liked this polish. I particularly like the little scooper included in the packaging. I’ll definitely rebuy this.

Physicians Formula Organic-Wear Mascara

My eyelashes border on non-existent at this point, so it’s nice to find a mascara that gives a little oomph without the need for glue. If you’d like to try a more natural mascara, I say give these a whirl.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear® Precision Liquid Eyeliner

Highly pigmented and easy to create a solid line or even a wing! I was pleasantly surprised by how black the black pigment was in this eyeliner. If you wear contact lenses like me it’s hard to find an eyeliner that won’t irritate your eyes. Since the key ingredients in this eyeliner include Organic Chamomile Oil, Organic Aloe Vera, Organic Jojoba Oil & Botanical Cactus Flower you can trust this will be gentle on the eyes. 

Physicians Formula Organic Wear® Dewy Highlighter and Sculpting Bronzer

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Dewy Highlighter provides a nice subtle glow without shimmer or glitter. I tried both shades and found the lighter shade, Honey Dew, to work beautifully to highlight my brow bone and cheekbones. The organic wear bronzer, in mocha, unfortunately, didn’t translate onto my skin. It was nice and nourishing, but the pigment simply wasn’t there.

My Final Thoughts

All in all, I am REALLY impressed with this line. As a woman with a deep skin tone, the number of affordable brands offering organic cosmetics lines for women of color are few and far between. My skin felt soft, butter, plump, and super glowy. While a few of the products did not seem to provide enough pigment for my skin tone, most of the products provide rich and lasting pigment. I have oily and acne-prone skin and I was able to wear a full face for 8+ hours without turning into an oil-slick. Physicians formula continues to impress me with their vast lines with good-for-your-skin ingredients.
