Callie Terrell has been officially doing hair since she obtained her cosmetology license in 1945. However, most stylists will tell you they were styling hair right in their kitchen long before getting licensed was a thing.
“I always loved messing with my sister’s hair. They had beautiful hair and I always enjoyed doing this,” Ms. Callie said.
Either way, we now Ms. Callie has been doing hair for at least 73 years, and she says she’s not quitting until her 100th birthday next month.

A quick search of her name on a Tennesse government website shows that Ms. Callie is indeed a licensed beautician, and has been, all this time. Her license will expire right on time, too.

When asked why she continues to work, she offered this:
“I’m not used to just being up in the house,” she said. “You see I worked so long, I’ve just been around people and doing something exciting,” she said. “Most old people, they’re so dry and droll. I can’t deal with that. I gotta live and do the things that make me happy.”
