How To Begin Each Day Feeling Refreshed + Inspired

When the new year rolled around I was not ready, okay? Like beyond not ready. I swear I spent the entire day feeling run down, uninspired, and just not prepared to engage in anything productive. I know I wasn’t alone in feeling as though we needed a buffer day between the new year and the start of the week. Granted the holiday week felt particularly rushed, but truth be told, I can be sort of a mess year-round.
And since this year is about owning my truth and self-improvement, I’ve decided to enact a few simple practices every morning to help start my day on point. Here’s what’s working so far:
How To Start Your Day Off Right
Prepare
Prepare as much as you can from the night before. Clothes, shoes, lunch, even dinner. Having everything prepped will allow you to feel less rushed come morning. Peace of mind is the name of the game.
Wake up 30 minutes early
Use this time to just breath, and be present. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, and allow yourself to just be grateful for the ability to see another day. I usually cuddle with the kids for a few extra minutes before grabbing my coffee.

Write down at least one goal for the day
One goal is very doable, and by writing it down you force yourself to recall the goal throughout the day. You may have more than one goal, but I like to stick to one per day. One goal is pretty-much fail proof. Having this goal gives you something to work towards and look forward to throughout the day.
Take a nice hot shower
Not the 2 minute rinse-off you’re used to. But a full, hot, luxurious shower. Use bath products with citrus scents to help with awakening your senses and do a full 3 step shower. Bath Soap, Body Scrub
, then lotion. My absolute favorite morning skincare products is the ginger scented line from Origins.
I’ve been using these products going on 15 years now. Nothing enlivens your senses better than this stuff. Grab them HERE or you can try this mini set first HERE.
Affirm Your Goal For the Day

Affirmations make things happen, okay? I know it sounds weird, and it even feels weird, but trust me, you can speak your desires into existence. Your affirmation can be as simple as, “I’m going to kill it today.” Or it can be more specific like, “Joann at the job will not have power over my emotions today.” You will ultimately decide what is right for you, but I encourage you to practice affirmations daily, and yes, you must say the words out loud.
Folks, like you, I do not have all the answers, but what I can do is pass on little nuggets of information as I discover what works for me. I encourage you to use the comment section to divulge what is working for you. We can all learn and grow together.
Awesome and inspiring post!
I remember when I had to go into the office, I had a daily routine. I woke up at 4:45 – 5am. I used that time to pray, shower, do my makeup, & listen to my motivational/inspirational speeches. It really sat the tone for my day. I need to get back to that.
