Here’s What Justine Skye Told a Fan Who Called Her Their “Fav Dark Skin”

It’s 2017 and folks still have a problem normalizing dark skin. I touched on this subject a few weeks ago in this post HERE. It seems that for many people, the idea that one can be both attractive and dark skinned is some sort of anomaly, an exception to the rule, if you will. Far too often well-meaning individuals seem hell bent on “complimenting” dark skin beauties by saying things like, “You’re pretty for a dark skin girl.”

Singer Justine Skye (read about her HERE) ran into that very issue with on of her fans. As reported in Essence Magazine, one of Skye’s fans attempted to compliment Skye by telling the singer that she’s their favorite “dark skin,” to which Skye responded:
Dark skin isn’t a rare delicacy. We’re here and we’re beautiful; this isn’t news. Complimenting us on the basis of our skin color isn’t much of a complement at all.
