How to Refresh Type 4 Curls

One of my goals for the rest of the year is to do a better job of bringing my youtube content over to the blog. I’ve been holding back a lot, including hair tutorials that I know may be helpful to those of you who may be rocking a short natural hair style.

Although I made the decision to cut my hair relatively quickly, getting accustomed to managing my short natural hair has taken some work.  Hopefully this tutorial and  pictorial below will be helpful to those interested in learning how to  refresh type 4 curls.

How to Refresh Type 4 Curls (The STEPS)

  1. Completely wet your hair (soaking wet)

  2. Apply a light oil such as  the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Finishing Elixir

  3. Massage into hair making sure each strand is properly coated

  4. Apply a heavy butter-like curling cream such as the As I am Twist Defining Cream or the SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie – Coconut and Hibiscus

  5. Finger Coil the Hair by coating small sections of the hair with the curling cream and then twisting the hair around your fingers until it forms a ringlet.

  6.  If you have a tapered cut brush down your sides and tie on a scarf.

  7. Let hair air dry, remove scarf and you’re done!HOW-TO-RFRESH-TYPE-4-CURLS

  1. Love this look. Would adding a leave in condish change the results?

    1. The only thing about adding a leave in is that it would be adding an additional layer of moisture that may make the hair harder to dry. this is a quick refresh, so I tried to not over do the products.

      1. Love that hair style!!!
